Like director Mark Steensland's other short film Lovecraft's Pillow, Sucker is
very reminiscent of The Twilight Zone. In a tale penned by the director, actor Shannon Solo returns as a man who lures a young girl into his car by offering candy, only to get more than he bargained for. As I've come to expect from Steensland, the direction and camerawork on Sucker is excellent and the FX are subtle. There are a few close camera shots that actually had me wincing...in a good way. On the acting side of things, Shannon solo does a great job here as the creepy pedophile. But the star of the show is precocious newcomer Camille Jones. Her personality is perfect for the role of the young girl. I won't go into details, but you won't look at a Dum-Dum pop the same way again. Back to Reviews |
