The movie BOGO is an odd animal. This 6 minute short film was created as part of the "One Script to Rule Them All" DVXfest, a contest hosted by DVXUsers.com. The idea was that each director used the same script but was allowed to select locations and items based on their own style. The end result? Read on. This was the fist film I'd seen by director and Erie native John C. Lyons of Lyons Den Productions so I had no idea what to expect. What I got was a strange movie with an interesting story, decent acting and beautiful cinematography. The story revolves around the idea that, contained within the brains of twins, there is a substance which can be used to heal other twins. However the same substance, when used by non-twins, is a drug. Strange? Yes. But I did tell you it was an odd film and I won't go much further than to say it is definately worth watching. Mr. Lyons is a director that I forsee making a big splash in the movie scene. He definately has an eye for the camera. The disc I watched included not only the Lyons Den version from the DVXfest, but also several other entries from various directors. (Some of which aren't bad either.) Also included was a making-of segment that offers a somewhat brief look into the making of the film. The film is currently unavailable for purchase but if you keep an eye on the Lyons Den website, I'm sure it'll be back. Back to Reviews |
