Never has domestic violence, trauma and distorted reality been so enthralling or eerily beautiful.

In this feature length independent film, we are invited to follow along with Janet. She's a college drop out who leaves her abusive boyfriend and hides by getting a job house-sitting in a remote Appalachian mountain home. At the house, her only company is a stray cat, the kid that handles the groundskeeping who comes along once a week, and occasionally the realtor who's trying to sell the house. As time passes, Janet becomes prey to her own fears of being found, the isolation of the house and her own distorted views of reality. I won't go into much more than that since it'd be best to see this film cold.

Plot aside, the editing and cinematography on this film is simply gorgeous. It perfectly conveys the distorted visions Janet is having and keeps the viewer enthralled enough to stay with the ride. That is no easy task, but it's helped along by the great subtle acting by Juliana Brafa. If someone had told me I'd be watching an independent film that's carried by pretty much one actor in isolation for almost an hour and a half, I'd have called them crazy, but Miss Brafa pulls it off with apparent ease.

This movie was excellent and deserved the "Best of the Fest" award that it received at the Eerie Horror Film Festival 2006. I'm definately looking forward to more films by these two.
